I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist. I have been working professionally as a psychotherapist since qualifying in 1996. I am also a qualified counselling supervisor and trainer and have considerable experience in all 3 areas of work.
I have a background in the Rape Crisis Movement and have much experience in working with people who have experienced violence and trauma. For the last 7 years I have provided a counselling service at a F.E college. I teach on a Diploma in Integrative Counselling (Since 2002) and on a Diploma in therapeutic person centred counselling. (Since 2008) I also run a successful private practice in psychotherapy and supervision and provide freelance training on issues related to counselling for organisations.
I have much experience working therapeutically with children and young people. I am the external counsellor for Bromsgrove School.
I have delivered extensive training on a wide range of issues including sexual abuse/rape, ptsd, self injury, Eating distress and anti-oppressive practice for a variety of statutory and voluntary agencies including West Midlands Probation Service, West Midlands Police, Rape Crisis Federation of Wales and England, Women and Girls Network (London), Women's Aid, Housing Agencies, The Foyer Federation and schools, Colleges and Universities in the West Midlands. I have written training packs on Rape and sexual assault and self injury.
Qualifications
BA (HONS), Post Graduate Certificate in Womens Studies, Diploma psy/hyp, Certificate in counselling and therapeutic intervention for women overcoming experiences of violence. Post Graduate Certificate in the Training of Counsellors and Post Graduate Certificate in the Supervision of Counsellors. (Birmingham University) Post graduate cert in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Leicester University)
